Hyderabad: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) demanded compensation for the families of students who died and were injured after a lighting pole collapsed during a Dandiya event organised on the MVSR Engineering College campus here on Saturday. It also sought the registration of criminal cases against the college management.
In a statement on Sunday, DYFI Telangana vice president MD Javeed said the loss of lives in the incident at MVSR Engineering College was tragic. He wanted a thorough investigation to be conducted, and sought legal action against those who were responsible for the incident.
He said private engineering, degree, and other colleges have recently been organising large-scale events in the name of film promotions, celebrity visits, and cultural festivals without the necessary permissions.
“Strict action must be taken against colleges that violate the rules. Institutions responsible for serious violations should face steps to revoke their recognition,” he added.
