Hyderabad: Adibatla police have registered a case against the management of MVSR Engineering College following the death of a student after a lighting structure collapsed during a Dandiya event at the college in Nadergul, Rangareddy district, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred during the institution’s cultural festival when strong winds reportedly caused a lighting truss to collapse on students taking part in the celebrations. One student died, while several others sustained injuries.
The incident has raised concerns over safety arrangements for the event, particularly the measures taken to secure the temporary lighting structure against strong winds.
An Adibatla police official confirmed that a case had been registered against the college management. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse and examining whether any lapses in safety measures contributed to the incident.
The investigation will focus on how the lighting structure was installed, the precautions taken by the organisers and the circumstances that led to its collapse.
