Hyderabad: Telangana State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday urged the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to take necessary steps to regularize the services of panchayat secretaries and implement their pay scale accordingly.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Sanjay said it was the responsibility of the State government to instill confidence among panchayat secretaries by regularizing their services thereby ensuring security to their job. These panchayat secretaries were working in 12,765 gram panchayats in the State, he said.
These panchayat secretaries were playing a crucial role in the overall development of villages. From dealing with sanitary work, haritha haram programme, collection of taxes to controlling mosquitoes menace, these employees were leaving no stone unturned in developing villages.
They were also playing a key role in implementing various schemes introduced by the State government and on certain occasions they were also facing pressure from the elected representatives. Under these circumstances, the State government must come to the rescue of panchayat secretaries by regularizing their services, he urged.
