Hyderabad: A serial burglar, Mohammed Saleem alias Suniel Shetty, who prefers to target houses in the Bandlaguda and Balapur police station limits, was arrested for the third time this year on Tuesday. The police recovered 10 tolas of gold ornaments and 10 tolas of silver articles from him.

A resident of Balapur, he has been involved in more than 150 burglaries since 1992 and a suspect sheet is maintained against him. A die-hard fan of actor Suniel Shetty, he had even gone to Mumbai in his younger days but returned to the city and took up the vegetable business.

Saleem was arrested by the Bandlaguda police on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in four burglaries, including three cases in the Bandlaguda police station limits and one in the Balapur police station limits. He was last arrested in June and remanded. After being released from jail in August, he committed four burglaries within a span of three months.

Earlier, Saleem was arrested in March this year and again in July 2024. “After release from jail, Saleem resumes committing burglaries. In 2018, he was detained under the PD Act from Kanchanbagh police station, and again in 2021, he was detained under the PD Act from Falaknuma police station,” said ACP Chandrayangutta, A Sudhakar.
