Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reiterated that the number of assembly seats in the State would be increased from 119 to 150 by the time next elections are held, after the delimitation exercise, which would provide an opportunity for the Congress party to field more candidates and emerge victorious.

Women’s reservation would also be implemented and nearly 60 women would become legislators. They do not have to visit New Delhi for tickets, but the tickets would be delivered at their doorsteps, Revanth Reddy assured the party workers at the public meeting here on Friday.

In the next elections, the Congress will win 100 assembly seats and 15 parliament seats. I will take full responsibility if we fail to achieve the target,” Revanth Reddy assured the Congress high command in his speech.

The Chief Minister was critical of the opposition claims that the Congress government would not last long in the State and would soon be dethroned.
“We successfully cleared all those apprehensions and have been functioning in unison,” he claimed.

He also stressed that the Congress government had fulfilled the promise by conducting the caste census and SC categorisation.

In addition to these sections, top priority was accorded to the farming community and Rs.1.04 lakh crore was spent towards their welfare and development in the last 18 months, he said.

The Chief Minister had even challenged the BRS and BJP for a debate on the measures initiated by the Congress government for welfare and development of farmers in Telangana.

Raising objections to the protests staged by the opposition for renaming the Rs. 5 Annapurna canteens as Indiramma Canteens, he said former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi was instrumental in ensuring women’s welfare in the country. “The Congress will continue to name welfare schemes after the former Prime Minister,” he stressed.

The Chief Minister wanted the party workers to declare a war against the BRS on social media and ensure its defeat. Assuring that justice would be done to the party leaders in filling up of nominated posts, he said in the ensuing local body elections, the party would strive for the victory of its workers.
