The Indian National Congress has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene an all-party meeting to implement the women’s quota law from 2029 using the current Lok Sabha strength, opposing delimitation-linked expansion and demanding immediate legislative action
Shashi Tharoor criticised Narendra Modi for linking women’s reservation to delimitation, calling it “barbed wire” and warning it could become “political demonetisation”, urging immediate implementation of quota and wider consultation on delimitation reforms.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Union Government for linking women’s reservation with delimitation and constitutional amendments, urging immediate implementation without complications. He warned that basing seat increases solely on population would disadvantage southern states and trigger backlash.
