Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday accused BJP MPs from Telangana of obstructing development projects in the State and questioned why they were acting as “Gujarat Gulams.”

Addressing a public meeting in Miyapur, he said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was responsible for Gujarat’s development, Telangana BJP leaders also had a duty to work for the State’s progress. Referring to BJP MPs G Kishan Reddy, Etala Rajender, Raghunandan Rao and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, the Chief Minister asked whether they had no responsibility towards Telangana’s development.

Continuing his attack on the opposition, Revanth Reddy said BJP leaders sought votes in the Prime Minister’s name even for ward member elections. “Will Modi come here to clear the trash in a gutter?” he asked. The Chief Minister also accused Kishan Reddy of creating hurdles for key development projects in Telangana. He alleged that after his meetings with the Prime Minister and Union Ministers, Kishan Reddy approached them and urged them to disregard Telangana’s requests.

Announcing new infrastructure plans, Revanth Reddy said an international bus terminal would soon be constructed on 100 acres at Gajularamaram. Land had already been allotted to TGSRTC and work on the project would begin within three months, he said. He stressed that merely calling Hyderabad a global city was not enough and that infrastructure development must match such aspirations. The government, he said, was protecting public lands from encroachments and exploring plans to build LIG and MIG housing for eligible beneficiaries on those lands.

The Chief Minister also predicted significant political changes in the region due to future constituency reorganisation. He said the Serilingampally Assembly constituency could eventually be divided into five or six constituencies. He added that Serilingampally, Qutbullapur and Kukatpally together could be reorganised into at least 10 Assembly constituencies in the future, creating more opportunities for political aspirants from the Congress party.
