Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar found fault with the state government, accusing it of cheating farmers by denying Rythu Bharosa. He questioned why farmers had not been provided Rythu Bharosa even after two months of the beginning of the present Yasangi season, in an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday.
While participating in a public meeting in Miryalaguda on February 4, the Chief Minister had announced that financial assistance would be provided after the completion of municipal elections. However, so far, the amount has not been deposited in the accounts of farmers.
Revanth Reddy was clever in making tall promises before elections and forgetting them after polls, the Union Minister said. Informing that 67 lakh farmers across the state were eagerly waiting for Rythu Bharosa, he demanded that the government release two instalments at a time. A total of Rs 27,000 crore, including the third instalment, has to be paid to farmers.
Except for making statements that Rs 9,000 crore was deposited in the bank accounts of farmers within a span of nine days, the government has done nothing for the benefit of farmers, he alleged. Demanding that the government release the amount immediately, he warned of a wage agitation under the aegis of Bharatiya Janata Party state president Ramchander Rao.
Earlier, while laying the foundation for developmental works in Karimnagar town, Sanjay Kumar said that except demolishing houses of the poor, the Indian National Congress government had done nothing. People would remove the Congress government from power if Revanth Reddy failed to change his attitude, he warned.
