Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday made yet another attempt to elevate himself to the level of Telugu stalwarts like NT Rama Rao and YS Rajasekhara Reddy, claiming he would be remembered for “brand of governance”.

NT Rama Rao was remembered for Rs.2 a kg rice scheme, while Rajashekhara Reddy was known for the Jalayagnam programme, he said, also crediting his former political guru N Chandrababu Naidu for IT and HITEC City initiatives, he said at the Young India Police School inauguration here.

“Political analysts and journalists often ask about my failure to create a brand for myself even after 16 months of being in power. They even ask if my term would go unnoticed,” he said

“I take them lightly as they are not in a position to gauge my ambition in creating a brand. I am announcing that Young India is my brand,” Revanth Reddy said.

In Independent India, many Prime Ministers ruled the country but only a few made into the history books with their historic decisions on transforming the nation towards development, he said, stressing that son of the soil former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was known for his open economy policies, liberalization and privatization policies.

“As they speak of brands, my brand is Young India. Accordingly, Young India Skills University foundation was set up and Young India Sports University and Sports Academy were being set up,” he said.

The Chief Minister claimed that the first batch of the Young India Skills University students had secured 100 percent jobs. The companies, which had trained them as part of academic curriculum, had absorbed them, he claimed.

“We are also going to launch nursery, LKG and UKG play government schools. The students will be provided free transportation and breakfast, lunch and snacks,” he said, adding the promise to establish a school for police department personnel children was included in the Congress election manifesto.
