Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday claimed he had been part of the separate Telangana movement for 10 years and asserted that misusing power to take vengeance against individuals would be unwise.

The Chief Minister stated he does not consider anyone his enemy.

“I strongly believe in karma. My victory is a punishment to my opponents. As Chief Minister, every signature I make is like inflicting pain on them,” he said while speaking at a book launch programme here.

Defending his decision to showcase the Integrated Command and Control Centre and Secretariat, built during the BRS regime, to Miss World contestants, Revanth Reddy said he ensured that participants and delegates from 109 countries visited Telangana.

“I made them sing Jaya Jaya He Telangana and pay tributes to Telangana Thalli. Is this not my victory?” he asked.

He stressed that mere construction of high-rise buildings does not equate to development. “A mason like poet Ande Sri could also build a massive structure. But true development is when welfare and progress reach the poor,” he said.

The Chief Minister accused some of projecting skyscrapers and colourful buildings in Hyderabad as symbols of development, while he and poet Ande Sri opposed such notions.

Interestingly, Ande Sri, speaking at the gathering, said he was worried about constructing his house due to heavy rains in the State. “As the slab was to be built yesterday, I appealed to Revanth Reddy, asking if he could stop the rain for a day. Accordingly, there was not a drop of rain for two days,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister had etched his name in history by defeating BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
