Hyderabad: With the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) preparing for a public meeting in Jagtial on April 20, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday held a review meeting with senior Congress leaders from the constituency. BRS turncoat MLA Dr Sanjay also participated in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said the party had never undermined former Minister T Jeevan Reddy. He maintained that the State leadership had respected his stature at all times. However, he said Jeevan Reddy left the party out of sheer stubbornness.

Revanth Reddy stated that assurances were given about Jeevan Reddy’s political future and that of his family, but he chose not to accept them.

He alleged that Jeevan Reddy had let down party workers who had supported him for four decades. He also accused him of compromising the self-respect of Congress cadres in Jagtial by aligning with BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The Chief Minister said the party was working to counter political challenges, but Jeevan Reddy decided to switch sides at a critical time. He questioned whether it was wrong to defend a democratically elected government when attempts were made to destabilise it.

Revanth Reddy urged local leaders to assess the situation and stand by the party. He said he would soon visit Jagtial to interact with party workers.
