HYDERABAD: Ahead of the High Court hearing on petitions challenging the State government’s order providing 42 per cent reservations to BCs, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a meeting with a few Ministers at his residence on Monday.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed key points to be presented before the court during Wednesday’s hearing. It is learnt that he requested Congress Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi to argue the case on behalf of the government.

Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar and V Srihari, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.

With the schedule for local body elections already announced, the Ministers reportedly decided to abide by the court’s verdict. If the court rules against the government’s order, they discussed possible next steps; if it upholds the order, candidates for ZPTCs would be finalised immediately.

Later in the evening, BC community Ministers and a few MLAs held a separate meeting at Sports Minister V Srihari’s residence. Government Advisor K Keshava Rao, Forest Minister Konda Surekha, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Suresh Shetkar, among others, participated.
