Revanth Reddy orders Tirumala-style rules for Telangana temples
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to frame new regulations for temples across the State, modelled on the Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh. At a review meeting on the Basara Gnana Saraswathi Temple’s development, he emphasised spirituality and sanctity, banning political activities within temple premises.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to frame new regulations for the functioning of all temples across the State on the lines of Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh.
He emphasised that spirituality should be given top priority. The sanctity of temples should be maintained by prohibiting political party meetings, hoisting flags and demonstrations in the temple premises, he said.
At a review meeting on the development of Basara Gnana Saraswathi Temple here on Saturday, the officials of the State Endowments department made a PowerPoint presentation on the Master Plan for the development of the famous temple. Authorities explained the estimated cost of Rs 225 crore for the development of the temple.
The Chief Minister suggested several modifications to the master plan. He also advised that the development works of the Basara temple should be executed by strictly following the rituals and traditions.
To control the increasing vehicle traffic around the temple areas, he issued strict orders that the vehicles of prominent dignitaries and VIPs should also be parked outside the temple complex.
Strict action would be initiated against officials if quality was not maintained in the temple development works, he added.
