Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lashed out at the Congress government for its vendetta politics and asserted that, irrespective of intimidation, the party and its cadre would bounce back stronger with renewed energy.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council V Madhusudana Chary alleged that former Minister T Harish Rao was issued notices to appear before the SIT only because he had exposed the Singareni scam.
After failing to fulfil the promises made to the people, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was now indulging in diversionary politics, he said. During the separate State agitation, several BRS leaders were jailed and harassed by past governments, yet they fought back and achieved Telangana. Revanth Reddy should bear this in mind, Chary said while addressing media persons at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday.
Former Minister V Prashanth Reddy said that over the last two years, Congress Ministers had been involved in various irregularities. The BRS had been exposing these scams and, to cover up its failures, the Congress government was booking cases against BRS leaders, he alleged.
As a means to divert public attention, the Congress government was calling BRS leaders for hearings in various false cases, including Kaleshwaram, the Formula E Race and power purchase issues. No matter how many cases were booked or notices served, BRS leaders would continue to fight on behalf of Telangana and protect its interests, he asserted.
There had been irregularities in civil supplies, Congress Ministers had locked horns over Samakka Sarakka tenders, Revanth Reddy was allegedly offering industrial lands to his relatives at throwaway prices and a scam was being cooked up in the guise of HAM roads, he said.
“Before leveling baseless allegations against BRS leaders, the Congress government should introspect and order probe into all these scams,” Prashanth Reddy demanded.
Rajya Sabha MP V Ravichandra said people were closely observing the Congress government’s inefficiency and its failure to fulfil the electoral promises made to them.
Like a television serial, the Congress government was merely killing time and registering false cases against BRS leaders, he charged.
“BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao have been to jail for the sake of Telangana in the past. It will be foolish on the Congress government’s part to think that by registering false cases, they would get cowed down,” Ravichandra said.
