Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for prioritising the MLC election campaign over the rescue operations at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse site, where eight people are missing. He questioned the Chief Minister’s absence at the disaster site, pointing out the government’s indifference even as the fate of those trapped inside the tunnel remains uncertain.
“The Chief Minister has time to tour districts for the election campaign, but not to visit the disaster site, while the lives of eight people hang in balance. If he is not serious about the tragedy, what can we expect from the State administration?” he asked.
Rama Rao took to X and slammed the government for prematurely declaring that the survival possibilities of the trapped individuals were grim, even though the rescue operations were underway. He found fault with the Chief Minster for abandoning his responsibility to supervise the rescue operations and provide reassurance to the families of the victims.
“Is this the value given to human life under the Congress rule? Does the Congress care only about seeking votes and money?” he questioned. Raising concerns about the lack of leadership, he likened the CM to Emperor Nero, who famously played the fiddle while Rome burned.
“While the people of Telangana suffer, the Chief Minister is more interested in political gains than in providing support to grieving families,” he remarked. He urged the Congress government to address the crisis at hand, failing which people would teach them a lesson.
