Karimnagar: In a statement that doesn’t augur well for Telangana politics, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy waded into controversy on Sunday when, in the course of criticising the TRS government, he said Naxal presence in the State at this juncture may have proved to be beneficial to the State.
“In the past, we felt that Naxalism had to be wiped out if development has to take place in Telangana. But we feel that their presence now in the State would at least have instilled some fear in the administration since the political system has failed in the State and atrocities would have been minimum,” the Congress leader said at a press conference here.
Claiming that BJP candidate for Huzurabad by-election Eatala Rajender resigned from the State Assembly following a “battle for supremacy with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,” he said: “Rajender demanded equal power, for which he was sent away from the party. He did not resign from the seat to fight for public issues.”
Interestingly, this is the first time that Revanth Reddy has spoken about Rajender, leave alone criticising him, after maintaining a studied silence even in the face of talk that he had propped up the latter.
The Congress lead, who was in the district to campaign for party candidate B Venkat Narsing Rao, said the Congress will not only win the Huzurabad by-poll but also future elections in the State.
