Reversing RTC bus crushes toddler in Asifabad

A 14-month-old boy was killed after being run over by a reversing TGSRTC bus in Kumram Bheem Asifabad. His family staged a protest demanding compensation and support.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In a tragic incident, a fourteen-month-old boy was killed when a TGSRTC bus ran over him while being reversed at a bus stand here on Wednesday. His parents and relatives staged a sit-in at the station seeking justice.

Police said that Kavude Tharun, son of Bheemrao from Kondapalli village received serious injuries when the bus dashed against him. He was immediately shifted to a hospital in Mancherial where he died while being treated. His grandmother was carrying him in her lap to board another bus at the time of the incident. A case was registered against the driver of the bus. Investigations were taken up.

Meanwhile, parents of the toddler and relatives and certain people’s organisations staged a sit-in at the bus stand demanding a compensation of Rs 5 lakh, Indiramma house and job to kin of the victim.

They withdrew the protest when police assured them of justice by launching a probe into the incident. TGSRTC officials extended Rs 25,000 as an immediate relief.
