Minister said that so far, about 1.25 lakh teachers and staff from private schools have already benefitted from the unique scheme.
Hyderabad: Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy on Monday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision to provide financial support and free rice to 83,993 additional teachers and staff drawn from various private schools in Telangana will be implemented immediately.
To give some respite from financial difficulties due to the Covid pandemic, Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao had recently announced that all private school teachers and staff drawn from various private schools in Telangana will receive Rs 2,000 and 25 kgs of rice every month. Later, it was decided to expand the initiative and cover another 83,993 beneficiaries.
On Monday, Sabitha Indra Reddy said that so far, about 1.25 lakh teachers and staff from private schools have already benefitted from the unique scheme. To implement the initiative, the State government has incurred an expenditure of 25 crore and has supplied 2,840 tonnes of rice.
A total of 11,819 beneficiaries who were supposed to receive the free rice but didn’t due to logistical reasons in the beginning of the initiative, will receive the support now. With the 83,993 more teachers and staff added to the list of beneficiaries, overall about 2.09 lakh will be benefited from this initiative taken up at a cost of Rs 42 crore and 5,224 metric tonnes of rice.
