Wanaparthy: The rift between Planning Commission Vice Chairman G Chinna Reddy and local MLA T Megha Reddy continues to widen as the former was upset over his recommendation for market committee nominations not being considered.
Chinna Reddy took strong objection over Megha Reddy’s highhandedness in the constituency. He also stressed that unilateral decisions should not be taken and all the leaders, including those, who joined the Congress from other parties, should work in coordination.
In a clear message to the party leadership, he also warned that according priority to the turncoats would damage the party’s prospects.
“You never know when they will jump over the wall. Loyalists should be protected and newcomers should be encouraged. This has to be in an 80:20 ratio,” Chinna Reddy said on Sunday.
There are two market yards in Wanaparthy, one in the headquarters and the other at Pebbair, which is relatively smaller. Accordingly, Chinna Reddy recommended a few names, especially BC leaders, for the Pebbair market yard committee.
“Despite Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s directions, my recommendations were not being considered,” he said.
“I have been loyal to the Congress for 46 years, don’t I have a right to recommend our leaders for a few posts? Am I a tissue paper?” Chinna Reddy fumed.
As local bodies elections are fast approaching, the Planning Commission vice chairman insisted that only winning candidates should be given tickets. Unlike the survey during MLAs elections, a detailed survey has to be conducted to determine the winning prospects, he stressed.
He further warned the party leadership that if the loyalists’ interests were not protected and if there was no coordination, results would vary in the future.
“I have appealed to AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal to appoint a coordination committee in all constituencies which are plagued with conflicts between loyalists and turncoats,” Chinna Reddy said.
The Planning Commission Vice Chairman also raised objections over officials, particularly the police department, for working at the behest of the MLA’s orders.
“Police officers are literally working as the security guards at the MLAs house. This is unfortunate. They book a case or spare the accused. All this is being done as per the MLA’s orders,” Chinna Reddy said.
