RINL coming up with 1000-bed Covid care hospital in Visakhapatnam
All the necessary material procurement and arrangements to facilitate the clinical delivery of medical Oxygen near the patient bed are being expedited.

Visakhapatnam: RINL-Visakhapatnam steel plant is using all its internal resources and available facilities is embarking on this massive “1000 bed Covid Care Hospital facility” in its premises to tackle the surge of the second Covid wave. According to a spokesman of RINL said here on Friday, the Central government had directed RINL collective to build facilities for providing Covid Care to 1000 patients in Ukkunagaram, township of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Fabrication work for cots for Covid Care Hospital is going on in a full swing at Utility Equipment Repair Shop (UERS) inside plant premises. All the necessary material procurement and arrangements to facilitate the clinical delivery of medical Oxygen near the patient bed are being expedited, he revealed.

In the first step towards arranging 1000 bed facility, the Gurajada Kalakshetram, the huge popular function hall in Township of VSP is being made into a Covid Care Centre. Further in phased manner various community halls and public halls/spaces will be converted into hospital wards for treatment of Covid patients. All the wards of Visakha Steel General Hospital (approximately 110 bed ) have been converted to Covid wards except one for emergency non-Covid cases.
Liquid Medical Oxygen
“RINL stands with the Nation in the prevailing Oxygen crisis for the Covid patient and continues to supply Liquid medical Oxygen (LMO). So far in this financial year 2021-22, since April 13, more than 2,200 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) has been dispatched. These Dispatches are mostly to AP state but it has also supplied 100 tons in the First Oxygen Express, to Maharashtra on April 22 due to acute emergency in that state. As per Government allocation plan RINL is also extending support to Karnataka,” the spokesman disclosed.
Since the onset of this pandemic RINL has already dispatched 11,000 tons to various destinations. The distribution and dispatches of LMO is being done as per the guideline of Drug controller Authority of India. RINL is committed to stand by Nation during this crisis and will extend all the support to meet the Oxygen requirement of Covid patients.
