Hyderabad: In a freak mishap, a registered medical practitioner (RMP) died after a lift in a residential apartment came crashing on him in Medchal.

According to information available, Akbar Patil was peeping into the well of the lift at Sai Manikanta Residency in Suraram in an effort to retrieve a ball that fell down there. When the 39-year-old RMP looked into the well of the lift searching for the ball, the elevator car was up on the higher floors.

Reports suggest that Akbar Patil from the floor was bent down into the lift well enclosure when the elevator was operated and came down crashing on his head. The impact with which the elevator base hit the RMP was such that he died on the spot, it is learnt.

In the last two months, this is the third incident in which a life was lost in a lift accident. In February, six-year-old Arnav died after he was caught between the lift and the support wall in a residential apartment in Masab Tank. In March, a four-year-old Surender got trapped in the lift’s grill door and the wall leading to fatal injuries and death in Asifnagar.
