Hyderabad: The road caving in over a nala on Banjara Hills Road No. 1 in the early hours of Tuesday resulted in a severe water shortage for 150 families residing in Maheshwari Towers.
The road collapse disrupted the regular water tanker supply, impacting residents in GHMC Ward No 93, Banjara Hills, represented by Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi.
Households here were left without access to regular tanker water supply, and despite notifying the local authorities, the issue remains unresolved.
Residents expressed anger towards GHMC officials for their perceived apathy in not lifting the water tanker from the nala, even hours after the incident.
A few residents told Telangana Today that the families in the towers depend on tanker supply as the existing water lines, laid three decades ago, have not been upgraded. Every day, ten water tankers are booked to meet the demand.
Additionally, floodlights were installed on the road which was blocked by the incident. The road is 30 feet wide, but only 15 feet is accessible to the families of Maheshwari Towers.
