Hyderabad: A rock python that was spotted in a farm at Kothakota Mandal of Wanaparthy district was rescued by a police home guard, Cheerla Krishna Sagar, the founder of Sagar Snake Society.

Sagar got a call from Kottakotta Tahsildar Ramesh Reddy and SI Naga Shekhar Reddy about the 13-foot-long rock python that was spotted by a farmer.

“I and some snake society volunteers rushed to the spot and rescued the snake. We had to struggle a lot to rescue the snake since it weighs 25 kgs. It is the first time I am seeing such a big python,” Krishna Sagar said, speaking to Telangana Today over phone.

The python, which was not hurt much, is said to be about 15 years old and was released in Nallamalla forest.
