Hyderabad: When the youthful comedy entertainer ‘Husharu’ was released, the story was appreciated for its freshness and out-of-the box screenplay. Now, director Sree Harsha Konuganti has taken a brief break to come up with a college drama titled ‘Rowdy Boys’.
Starring Ashish and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead, the movie features Karthik Ratnam, Tej Kurapati, Komali Prasad, Srikanth Ayengar, among other actors. As the film gets ready to greet audiences in theatres this Sankranti, director Sree Harsha has caught up with the media.
“The story is inspired from his college-life incident when he was in academics. Gang fights in the college, the first-glimpse romance, bitter sweet moments, and, of course, the naughty and immature acts of youngsters of that age. When someone looks back at their wacky behaviour during their teens in college, they would probably think how silly they might have reacted immaturely to situations. It’s a phase of mixed emotions for every individual,” the director says.
This time he could not roe in actor Rahul Ramakrishna for his film as the latter has been busy working with ‘RRR’. “Actor Rahul has missed out because he is busy with ‘RRR’. But actor Racha Ravi filled his shoes in ‘Rowdy Boys’. There will be no dearth of comedy in the film,” he adds.
“‘Rowdy Boys’ has a graph similar to the film ‘Happy Days’ which came out a decade ago. It is a character-based film. The story has a start, the middle and the end; it has a distinction. The story starts with a bang. We shot with 1,500 cast with road cams that were specially brought from Mumbai to shoot action sequences. The movie is bankrolled by Dil Raju and Allu Sirish,” he concludes.
