Hyderabad: A major mishap was averted at the Kacheguda Railway Station after a passenger slipped and fell onto the platform while attempting to get off a running train on Wednesday.

According to officials, the man lost balance as the train was still in movement. It was then that the RPF Constable Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who was on duty on the platform, noticed the fall and rushed forward within seconds.

He immediately pulled the passenger away, preventing him from being dragged under the moving train.

The quick response and alertness of the constable earned praise from fellow passengers and railway officials present at the spot.

Senior RPF officials appreciated Sharma’s timely action, calling it a life-saving gesture and an example of the crucial role played by RPF personnel in ensuring commuter safety.

The passenger escaped with minor injuries and was given first aid.

Railway authorities urged commuters not to board or alight from moving trains, stressing that such actions remain one of the leading causes of railway accidents.
