Hyderabad: With passenger movement peaking during the festive season, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Secunderabad Division has intensified security measures to ensure safe and smooth travel across the network.
More than 250 RPF personnel are being deployed every day at major stations and on crowded trains, particularly those heading towards Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and other high-demand routes.
To manage the heavy footfall, RPF teams have been positioned at platforms, FoBs and station entry and exit points, with special focus on crowd and queue management. Traffic outside railway stations has also been regulated by creating separate lanes for autos and other vehicles to ease congestion during peak hours.
Security checks have been strengthened through strict monitoring of baggage and screening at access points to prevent the entry of prohibited and hazardous materials.
In addition, all-women ‘Shakti Teams’ and special decoy squads have been deployed on platforms and trains to prevent offences such as harassment and theft, providing reassurance to women passengers.
All railway stations are under constant surveillance through high-resolution CCTV cameras linked to centralised control rooms for real-time monitoring. Special vigilance is also being maintained on long-distance and night trains, which are prone to higher passenger density during the festival period.
Divisional Security Commissioner Alakunta Naveen Kumar said the RPF was fully prepared to handle the surge in passengers with round-the-clock deployment and enhanced vigilance.
