Hyderabad: The Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) officials, while accepting that a consumer from Kommera in Chennur of Mancherial, was issued a pending power bill of Rs.1.47 lakh for over eight years at once due to the negligence of the power staff, said he would be allowed to pay the amount in easy installments.
Responding to a report published in “Telangana Today” Sunday edition, with regard to a consumer staging a sit-in in front of a power station at Kommera village on Saturday protesting against his power bill of Rs. 1.47 lakh, NPDCL superintendent engineer Shravan Kumar said the consumer, Gattu Sampath, received a bill of Rs 1.47 lakh for a period of eight years at once, due to the mistake of the local power staff.
According to the preliminary report, the meter was released to the consumer in 2016. But due to the negligence of some employees, billing was not done, he said, adding that the complaint was taken into consideration and the bill was issued for the consumption in May 2024.

The meter was being sent to the LT Lab, he said, adding that the organization would take all precautions to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
