Sangareddy: Unidentified miscreants broke open the dicky of a moped and decamped with Rs 8 lakh at the Tahsildar’s office in Zaheerabad on Tuesday.
The victim, M Narsimha Reddy, a resident of Tumkunta in Zaheerabad mandal, had purchased a piece of land and arrived at the Tahsildar’s office for registration after arranging the remaining amount. He withdrew Rs 7 lakh from an SBI bank around 12.50 pm and had another Rs 1 lakh with him. He placed the entire amount in the dicky of his friend Methari Buchaiah’s scooty. Both then went inside the Tahsildar’s office to complete the registration process. When they came out of the office at around 1.20 pm, the cash was missing.
Following a complaint, Zaheerabad police registered a case. After examining CCTV footage, police found that two persons on a motorcycle were involved in the theft. Efforts are on to trace the accused.
