RS Praveen Kumar slams Revanth over urea shortage in Telangana
BRS leader Dr RS Praveen Kumar accused CM Revanth Reddy of failing to ensure sufficient urea supply to Telangana farmers. He alleged that middlemen were overcharging and Congress activists were receiving preferential treatment. He demanded strict action and raids
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: BRS leader DR RS Praveen Kumar asserted that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy failed to ensure sufficient supply of urea to farmers of Telangana even after meeting BJP national president JP Nadda in New Delhi.
He extended solidarity to a protest staged by farmers in front of a primary agriculture cooperative society in Bejjur mandal centre on Thursday.
Praveen Kumar alleged that the officials were supplying urea to activists of the Congress flouting norms. He accused middlemen of fleecing farmers by charging anywhere between Rs 400 and Rs 500 per bag as against the price of Rs 265 fixed by the government. He demanded the PD Act be invoked against the culprits by conducting raids.
The leader sought supply of the fertilizer without interference of the activists and leaders of the Congress. He wanted the officials to cancel the licenses of middlemen who were diverting the urea. He said that no farmer faced inconvenience due to shortage of the fertilizers during the rule of the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
He flayed local MLA Dr Harish Babu for showing negligence in addressing the challenges of the farmers. He charged that Harish failed in procuring the urea from the Centre to Telangana. He accused the legislator of confining his mandal and of ignoring problems of the agrarian community belonging to Sirpur (T) segment.
Praveen Kumar later inspected the process of supplying the urea at an agriculture market yard in Kagaznagar town. He expressed his anger against the officials for delaying the supply of the fertilizers to the farmers. He urged the officials to address the problem and to avoid inconvenience to the farmers.
