Khammam: CPI (M) activists have taken out a massive rally here on Tuesday in protest against the delay in nabbing the assailants involved in the murder of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham state secretary Samineni Rama Rao.
The party workers staged a dharna at Ambedkar centre. Addressing the gathering the party state secretariat member P Sudarshan Rao sought to know why a series of murders were occurring only in Madhira constituency represented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
He alleged that the police department was negligent in identifying the accused even as five days passed since the murder took place at Patharlapadu in Chintakani mandal on October 31. The investigation was proceeding in a way that protects the accused while troubling the victims.
Sudharshan Rao warned that if the investigation was not conducted in a constitutional and legal manner, the party workers would lay siege to the police stations. Rama Rao’s wife Swarajyam in her petition to the police identified the accused and all the accused are residing in the village.
But the police investigation was targeting Rama Rao’s family as it was being limited to colleges, schools, principals, relatives and Rama Rao’s family. Whenever Vikramarka holds important positions, Congress goons in Madhira constituency allegedly target and kill political opponents.
Alavala Srinivas in Pandillapalli, Yerraboyna Nageswara Rao in Govindapuram (L) and now Rama Rao in Patharlapadu were killed in the same way. CP Sunil Dutt was not willing to consider Rama Rao’s killing as a political murder, Sudharshan Rao complained.
The agitations would continue until the culprits were brought to justice, he said while the CPI(M) district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao said that an attempt was being made to absolve the murderers belonging to the ruling party from the case. He demanded Vikramarka to take responsibility for this murder. Similar protests were staged in Chintakani and Enkoor mandals.
