Senior CPI (M) leader murdered in Khammam’s Madhira constituency
                CPI (M) leader Samineni Rama Rao (70) was murdered at his house at Patarlapadu village of Chintakani mandal in Khammam district. Khammam: A CPI (M) leader Samineni Rama Rao (70) was murdered at his house at Patarlapadu village of Chintakani mandal in Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka’s Madhira Assembly constituency in the district.
According to the family members the assailants stabbed him with knives; slit his throat, left him in the pool of blood and fled the scene during early morning hours on Friday. Three persons were said to be involved in the murder.
                            
                                            
                
                
    
The incident triggered tension in the village as a large number of CPI (M) activists reached the village from different parts of the district on learning the news of Rama Rao’s murder. Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt along with the local police visited the village and took stock of the situation. Clues team and sniffer dogs pressed into service to gather evidence at the crime spot.
The deceased Rama Rao served as the state general secretary of Telangana Rythu Sangham and as the sarpanch of the village for nearly 30 years. The party leaders alleged that the Congress goondas have murdered him fearing defeat in local body elections.
CPI (M) state general secretary John Wesley, Central Committee member Tammineni Veerabhadra Rao, state secretariat member Pothineni Sudharshan Rao and the district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao strongly condemned Rama Rao’s murder. They demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.
The Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka expressed deep shock over Rama Rao’s murder. The culprits would be punished strictly according to the law and there was no room for dirty politics of violence in Khammam. He extended his deep sympathy and condolences to the family of Rama Rao.
