He said that Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, 24 hours free electricity supply to agricultural pump sets and irrigation facility had restored the past glory to farmers.
Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy on Wednesday said that Rythu Vedikas conceived by Chief Minister K Chandrashakher Rao would bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector by bringing farmers together in the State.
Inaugurating the Rythu Vedika building at Munagala in Suryapet district, he said Rythu Vedikas will serve as information centres to educate farmers on taking up the right kind of crops for cultivation in tune with the market demand. The initiative was aimed at doubling the incomes of farmers in the State, he added.
He said that Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, 24 hours free electricity supply to agricultural pump sets and irrigation facility had restored the past glory to farmers as well as making cultivation a profitable venture.
He said that Rythu Vedikas will emerge as platforms for farmers to meet and discuss cultivation methods and trend in the markets regarding crops. He pointed out that only the TRS government had extended investment support under Rythu Bandhu to farmers which no other State government had thought of earlier.
He suggested that the farmers switch over to new cultivation methods from traditional practices to increase crop yield. The officials of Agriculture department should also strive to create awareness among farmers on new cultivation methods to increase their income. He pointed out that the new cultivation methods would reduce investment while simultaneously increasing crop production.
Kodad MLA Bollam mallaiah Yadav, district Collector Vinay Krishna Reddy, Rythu Bandhu Committee district president Razak and elected representatives of local bodies were also attended the programme.
