Addressing the gathering Dutt said as many as 377 police personnel across the country have fought and sacrificed their lives against insurgents, terrorists and Maoists while in the line of duty this year.
Police not counting their lives were striving to maintain peace and security of the people. The Chinese attacked security personnel patrolling the Indian border on Oct 21 in 1959 near Aksai Chin located at an altitude of about 19,000 feet.
Police flag day was observed on October 21 every year to commemorate the sacrifices made by the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the security of the country on the Indo-China border in 1959, he explained.
Dutt said the law and order situation in the district was effective with the constant vigilance of the police. He said that across the country, unscrupulous forces such as terrorists, extremists and separatist forces were committing violence and many policemen were being martyred in their fight against such forces.
The SP urged the people to extend their cooperation and support police who would not hesitate to make sacrifices if necessary for the safety and security of the people in times of calamity.
A similar Smriti Parade was organised in Khammam where District Collector VP Gautham, Commissioner of Police, Vishnu S Warrier and others paid homage to police martyrs.
