SAI inspects Hyderabad venues for Khelo India Games 2026

A Sports Authority of India delegation inspected major sports venues in Hyderabad to assess their readiness for the 2026 Khelo India Games. Officials appreciated the infrastructure while recommending minor repair and maintenance works before continuing inspections in other Telangana districts

Hyderabad: As part of the preparations for the 8th edition of the Khelo India Games 2026, to be hosted by Telangana, a team of officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) visited key sports facilities in Hyderabad on Tuesday to assess their readiness for the prestigious national event.

The SAI delegation, led by Executive Director Ms Amar Jyoti, along with Assistant Directors Madhu Harsha, Gopal Kandpal and Mohit, inspected the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex, Shooting Range, KBR Indoor Stadium, Hussain Sagar Water Sports Training Centre, Cycling Velodrome and LB Stadium.

The officials reviewed the existing sports infrastructure, venue readiness and the facilities available for athletes, technical officials and spectators.

They also assessed the overall preparedness of the venues to host competitions under the Khelo India Games.

The SAI team expressed satisfaction with the quality of sports infrastructure available in Hyderabad. However, it suggested that minor repair and maintenance works be undertaken at a few locations to ensure the venues fully meet the requirements for hosting the Games.

The inspection was attended by Deputy Directors Ravinder, Raviteja and Ashok Kumar, Engineering Department officials Srinivas and Sandeep, Stadium Administrators Kannam Madhu, Raj Veer, Gokul and Ravikumar, and Dronacharya Awardee Ismail Baig, among others.

The SAI delegation will continue its inspection tour on Wednesday by visiting the Hakimpet Sports School and sports facilities in Medchal, Karimnagar, Warangal and Hanamkonda districts.
