Hyderabad: Sai Nachiketh Bhatraju, a trainee of the Chetan Anand Badminton Academy, completed a remarkable double by winning the Turkish Junior International title, adding to his Junior All England crown.
A couple of weeks ago, Bhatraju became the first Indian to win the Junior All England Championship.
In the final, Bhatraju defeated top-seeded M. Toremis of Turkey 21-11, 23-21.
Earlier in the semifinal, the third-seeded Hyderabad shuttler, mentored by former World No. 10 and national champion B. Chetan Anand, scored a 21-13, 21-19 win against Mohammed of Saudi Arabia after recording a 21-18, 21-23, 21-9 victory over A. Ahmadloo of Iran in the quarterfinal.
“It is not easy to win back-to-back international tournaments. I am very happy that he maintained his concentration and composure, and also managed the physical and mental demands of tough matches over the last two weeks,” Chetan said.
“I am proud of him for winning two titles back to back. I believe this is just the beginning. He needs to keep working hard and win more laurels for India,” the former India star shuttler and the proud coach said.
