Mancherial: Government Whip Balka Suman laid foundation stones to buildings, titled Sammakka-Saralamma Bhavans, meant for SHGs in different parts of Chennur Assembly constituency on Friday. He was joined by MLC Dande Vittal.

Suman laid the foundation stone to a building at Mittapalli village in Jaipur mandal, and similar facilities at Venkatapur, Andugulapet, Chirrakunta and Adilpet villages in Mandamarri mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, Suman said that the first-its-kind 102 facilities were created to members of self-help groups enabling them to conduct meetings and to discuss their problems, spending Rs 15 lakh each. He advised them to utilize the buildings and to achieve financial empowerment, setting an example to their counterparts of other states.

Suman and Vittal made a surprise visit to a government school at Ponnaram village in Mandamarri mandal. He discussed about Mana Ooru-Mana Badi scheme with the students. He found out their challenges and facilities that could be created for the institution. He said that the government was giving paramount importance to education and to improve infrastructure.

Suman was accorded a warm welcome by members of the SHGs on his arrival to these villages. Women welcomed him by drawing tilak on his forehead and with harati. Girls sprinkled flowers on the path, while men danced to drum beats.

The government whip later distributed smartphones to Anganwadi workers at his camp office in Chennur town. He said that the government hiked salaries of the workers and was giving mobile phones helping them to easily upload data of children and pregnant women without needing to spend a longer duration in entering the information in registers.

Dande Vittal heaped praises on Suman for striving hard to develop Chennur Assembly constituency on many fronts. He opined that Suman was one of the dedicated and sincere public representatives of Telangana. He added that people of Chennur segment were fortunate to be represented by him.
