Sand mafia attacks revenue staff in Kothagudem

Around 50 to 60 persons assaulted revenue inspector and deputy tahsildar and the attackers dispersed as the media persons reached the spot.

Kothagudem: Sand mafia attacked revenue staff at Sarapaka in Burgampahad mandal in the district for trying to stop illegal sand mining.

Speaking to the media on Sunday Burgampahad tahsildar, Mujahid informed that revenue inspector Muthaiah, deputy tahsildar Ramnaresh and staff on receiving information that sand was mined illegally in river Godavari under Sarapaka bridge, reached the spot on Saturday late night to stop it.


Around 50 to 60 persons assaulted revenue inspector and deputy tahsildar and the attackers dispersed as the media persons reached the spot. When informed police they reached the spot but did not respond immediately.

Condemning the attack on revenue staff, Mujahid said that he had taken the incident to the notice of higher officials and would lodge a police complaint after preparing a detailed report on the incident. Steps would be taken to prevent smuggling, he added.
