Sand truck hits RTC bus, passengers injured in Kothagudem

A speeding sand truck hit an RTC bus near Lothuvagu, injuring several passengers. A seriously injured child was hospitalised, while locals blamed reckless driving and pressure from sand contractors

Kothagudem: Several passengers onboard an RTC bus suffered minor injuries when a speeding sand tipper hit the bus from behind and damaged the bus.

The incident took place near Lothuvagu in Laxmidevipally mandal in the district on Monday when a Palle Velugu bus was going to Kothagudem from Yellandu. A girl child, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to Government General Hospital in Kothagudem.

The public demanded the police and concerned officials to take action against drivers of sand trucks who were driving the trucks rashly. Such accidents were happening because the sand contractors were forcing the drivers to make more trips in a day, they said.
