Sangareddy: Collector Sangareddy M Hanumantha Rao has called upon the farmers and officials to put a collective effort to make Varam Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO) a model in the State.
After releasing the outlet of Varam FPO on the premises of Collectorate in Sangareddy on Monday, the Collector said farmers from Raikode, Vatpally and Munipally Mandals formed as Varam FPO with an objective to sell their products directly to consumers without any involvement of middlemen.
Saying that the farmers were listing a good share of their profits to middlemen, Rao has observed that it is time to form FPOs to get the best profits in farming.
He has assured to help the FPO to set up such outlets in Hyderabad and others parts of the State where the movement of people is high.
Saying that Varam FPO is helping its members by purchasing cotton, and distributing quality seeds, the Collector said Finance Minister T Harish Rao has also granted a pulses mill to them, which will be set up shortly after identifying a piece of land, impressed by their work.
Additional Collector J Veera Reddy, Joint Director Agriculture B Narsimha Rao, and others were present.
