Sangareddy: Collector P Pravinya on Tuesday seized a fertiliser shop run by the District Cooperative and Marketing Society (DCMS), located at Pothireddypally junction near Sangareddy town, after she found that the management was selling urea at prices above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
The shop is located just a stone’s throw away from the Sangareddy Collectorate and the Rural Police Station. During a routine inspection, the Collector checked the register of farmers who had purchased urea from the shop and called one of the farmers using the number mentioned in the records.
The farmer confirmed that he was charged more than the MRP for a bag of urea. Taking serious note of this, Pravinya immediately instructed officials to seize the shop.
She warned that the government would take strict action against fertiliser dealers found selling urea or any other fertilisers above the MRP.
