Sangareddy: Sangareddy Central Jail Superintendent Kalasagar has accused some staff members of accepting bribes through UPI payments in return for favours to inmates. He warned that stringent action would be taken against those indulging in such practices.
Kalasagar said he had been gathering intelligence on such activities and had repeatedly cautioned staff, but they continued despite multiple warnings. On Wednesday night, he sent a stern message to all staff members, warning that lapses would no longer be tolerated.
In his communication, he alleged that certain staff and prisoners were illegally smuggling prohibited items into the jail after attending court duties each day. He made it clear that such incidents would be recorded in official files and forwarded to higher authorities.
The Superintendent also announced that searches would be carried out rigorously to curb the malpractice. His message in the staff group has since triggered a furore among jail personnel.
