CPI(M) leaders during their visit to Manjeera river at Etigadda Lingampally in Chowtakur mandal to examine the water condition on Sunday.
Sangareddy: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders said that the water flowing down from Nakkavagu into Manjeera was polluting the river.
Party district committee member Athimela Manik and others visited the river at Etigadda Lingampally in Chowtakur mandal and examined the water on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Manik said the Nakkavagu, which was flowing through the Patancheru industrial area, was carrying a lot of pollutants into the river since the industries were indiscriminately dumping pollutants into the stream.
He demanded that the Pollution Control Board initiate stern action against the industries releasing pollutants into the stream. Manik said that even the cattle were not consuming the water coming from Nakkavagu.
He urged the government to keep a strict watch to check the industries from releasing pollutants into the stream.
