Sangareddy: The Sangareddy police seized 38 kg of palladium on carbon (PdC) worth Rs. 1.52 crore and arrested three members of a gang involved in stealing the chemical from pharmaceutical companies.
In a joint operation, the CCS Police and IDA Bollaram Police apprehended Amole Jagade, Ravindra Bhagavan, and Ganesh Mahadev Rathod, all natives of Maharashtra. However, the alleged kingpin, Allam Sambasivudu, along with Akshay Chouhan and Lala Patel, remain at large.
Sambasivudu and his team had previously been arrested in February this year in Sangareddy, when police seized Rs. 4.5 crore worth of PdC. Despite being released on bail, the gang continued its activities, targeting pharmaceutical units for the rare and expensive chemical.
PdC, a costly catalyst widely used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, has been the gang’s primary target. Sambasivudu, who had previously worked in pharmaceutical companies in Pune, allegedly used his insider knowledge to steal PdC and other high-value chemicals from eight companies across India, including four in Sangareddy district, over the past three years.
Presenting the arrested accused before the media, Sangareddy SP Paritosh Pankaj said a manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining three accused.
