Sangareddy: Protests against Gummadidala dump yard continue

Protest by residents enters 33rd day as they oppose Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's decision to set up dump yard at Pyaranagar

Sangareddy: The citizens of Gummadidala mandal have been continuing various forms of protests over the last 33 days opposing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) decision to set up a dump yard at Pyaranagar village.

The citizens were staging protests at Gummadidala mandal headquarters, Nallavalli village, and Pyaranagar village. People from all walks of lives were participating in the protests.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar, former Sarpanch of Nallavalli, said they would make all-out efforts to stop the GHMC from opening a dump yard since it would ruin their lives.

Shankar said Gummadidala was known for sending quality vegetables to Hyderabad. However, they would get garbage generated from Hyderabad as a return gift for supplying quality vegetables and milk to them for decades. Shankar urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to shift the proposed dump yard to another place.
