Sangareddy: Villagers, activists protest Pharma effluent discharge at Nalla Cheruvu

Environmental activist Paladugu Gnaneshwar and villagers of Dommadugu staged a protest at Nalla Cheruvu against the release of toxic effluents by pharmaceutical companies. Gnaneshwar, previously on hunger strike, was detained twice by police. The villagers demanded immediate government action to stop the pollution.

Sangareddy: The villagers of Dommadugu, along with environmentalist Paladugu Gnaneshwar, staged a protest at Nalla Cheruvu located at Domadugu in Gummadidala mandal on Wednesday, against the release of toxic water into the water body by pharma companies.

Gnaneshwar, who undertook a hunger strike at Sangareddy collectorate on Tuesday, was taken into custody by Sangareddy police. He was released later.

However, he proceeded to Domadugu and continued his protest extending his support to local farmers on Wednesday. The Gummadidala police took him into custody again and released him later. The villagers demanded the government to halt the release of effluents into the lake.
