Sangareddy: MLA Andole Chanti Kranthi Kiran and Chief Engineer (Irrigation) Ajay Kumar lifted the 11th crest gate of Singur project to release water downstream of Manjeera on Monday evening. The irrigation authorities released 8,626 cusecs, lifting the gate by 1.5 of metres.
Meanwhile, the Genco authorities were releasing over 3,000 cusecs of water taking the cumulative outflows to over 13,000 cusecs while the project was receiving 33,000 cusecs of water from upstream. The multipurpose project was having 27.115 tmcft water against its full capacity of 29.91 tmcft
The MLA and Chief Engineer performed puja to goddess Ganga before lifting the gate. The irrigation authorities also lifted the crest the gates of Manjeera dam downstream of Singur near Sangareddy to let the same water into the river course. With the current inflows, all the irrigation bodies built on river Manjeera in Telangana have filled to the brim. The Nizam Sagar Project, which was built in the Kamareddy district, is also attaining full reservoir level as it receiving continuous inflows. The project was having 16 TMCft of water its full capacity of 17TMCft. The irrigation authorities expected to lift the Nizam Sagar crest gates on Tuesday.
