Hyderabad: Match Point — A Shuttler’s story is an autobiography written by well-known international Sanjay Sharma. The book will be launched on November 19.
As described by Sharda Ugra, veteran sports journalist, this book depicts of Sharma’s colourful career in badminton. “Sanjay’s autobiography is not just about his busy, intense life in and around badminton, it is also about the many contours of Indian sport across the last five-odd decades. He has brought to life in his distinctive, undiluted plainspeak what until now would only have been vague outlines of badminton history to young Indian sports fans.”
Former National champion Shirish Nadkarni says Sharma is a relentless fighter. Former Bombay and Hyderabad opener Vijay Mohan Raj talks about his friendship with Sharma while legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar points out that Sanjay Sharma is one of the unsung heroes of Indian sport. “He may not be as easily remembered as Nandu Natekar, Dinesh Khanna, Suresh Goel, Prakash Padukone, P Gopichand and the current stars. That said, his contribution to his favourite sport is praiseworthy indeed. His passion for badminton was not limited to just playing it, and he played at a very high level.”
