Peddapalli: Kasavena Komuraiah won the Kakarlapalli sarpanch post in Manthani mandal through a draw of lots after the poll ended in a tie.
The election, held in the first phase of polling on Thursday, saw 802 of the 886 registered voters cast their ballots. Komuraiah and another aspirant, Monda Rajaiah, secured 391 votes each. Budida Ganesh polled 11 votes and nine ballots were declared invalid.
With both Komuraiah and Rajaiah tied, polling officials conducted a recount based on appeals from the candidates, and since the result remained unchanged, a draw of lots was conducted, through which Komuraiah was declared the winner.
Komuraiah, who previously served as sarpanch, was supported by the BRS. Rajaiah was backed by the Congress party.
