Sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi lifts garbage using a push-cart at Mukhra (K) village in Echoda mandal on Saturday.
Adilabad: Sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi gathered waste using a push-cart following delay in release of funds to buy fuel for tractors at Mukhra (K), a model village in Echoda mandal, on Saturday.
Meenakshi said sanitation staff had stopped collecting trash in the village due to lack of funds to purchase fuel and to pay salaries. She regretted that garbage was piling up on the streets of the village, resulting in the spread of seasonal diseases. The Sarpanch stated that she had no option but to collect the waste with the help of a push-cart by moving from one house to the other.
She recalled that the staffers were getting salaries, while the fuel expenses were being released every month without delay during the BRS regime. Now, the villages were grappling with various challenges including poor sanitation, she added.
She requested the government to clear bills to keep villages clean.
