Hyderabad: Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy and the Telangana Football Association secretary and former international footballer G P Palguna called on international football player from Nizamabad Guguloth Soumya at her home in Nizamabad on Sunday.
Soumya, who was supposed to be in the Indian team for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in India from January 20, was injured during the Indian football camp in Kerala recently. As per the doctor’s advice, Soumya returned to Nizamabad to recover from the injury.
SATS chief Venkateshwar Reddy assured the footballer of Rs 5 lakh financial aid on the behalf of State government. Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud, who spoke to her on a video call, also assured her of better medical support in the State capital at government expenses.
Soumya later thanked TFA president Mohd Rafat Ali, Palguna, and the State Football Association for the support. Rafat Ali, TFA president, requested the State government to grant a house and government job for Soumya.
